Sun sun sun...

We are finally getting to enjoy a few sunny days, here and there. You better believe we're making the most of them.

The big girl on her last day of preschool for the year!

My little gardener with our lunch harvest for yesterday. Have I mentioned that we eat a lot of kale?

An armload!

Louisey doing her part...

Most gorgeous toothless smile in the world.

Time for the splash fountain!

It was Cheesy's first time.

Sun, sun, sun, stay with me.

We're going to spend the day at Presque Isle State Park over Memorial Day weekend. What are your plans?

  2. It tastes delicious!

Actually, it's bitter if you don't cook it, but it's still yummy as a salad if you cut the bitterness with citrus-y flavors.

The best and yummiest thing in the world is to steam the kale lightly for a minute or two and then saute it in olive oil with some kidney beans and garlic and salt. We eat it this way all the time. My four year old actually ASKS for it. And it's pretty much the healthiest thing you can eat!

  3. We should have planted some kale!! I had kale soup not long ago and it was quite delicious.

Yesterday, I had trouble linking to your blogher post but wanted to give you a serious shoutout for the feature!! You are always a good read!

Lastly, the way that you are spending your sunny days looks perfect. Have an even more perfect weekend!

    xx, Cassie

  4. I will actually be traveling to the 'Burgh side of the state to visit my parents in rural Southwestern, Pa. I'm actually really excited for it. I need a break for crazy inner-city live at least once a year, and their house is the perfect retreat. They have a HUUUUUGE backyard with a deck that runs the length of their house, and a cute little porch swing under the oldest tree in their yard (which is as old as I am :) ). My dad has two huge vegetable gardens and a berry patch, and I am hoping that he has a decent harvest for me to help him pick (and eat.) Also, if the weather is nice my dad & I are going to go to Ohiopyle and ride our bikes on the path. I also hope to cook healthy, vegetarian meals for them a few nights that I'm out there. My dad and mom both have issues with their cholesterol, so I'm happy to show them healthier ways of preparing food.

  5. Happy long weekend, Amanda! Your little one is so cute, I hope the weather stays awesome for you. It's recently taken a turn back towards winter where I am. I really hope you'll join our little book club. Have you already read the Jean Rhys book? I'm nervous about picking first! Anyway, have a good one!

  6. Enjoy every last bit of ray out there. We've been rained in for a week. I'm pretty sure that there is a river in my backyard which means that there is dog poop floating out there.
    Good times.
    Lovely pictures!!
