But It Will - Writing Challenge Piece

It wasn't the first time I was afraid. My life was a dull fearful hum. I felt it for the first time, though.

A nurse said, "She's hungry."

I thought, "Death mustn't ever touch me."

But it will.

This was my entry for Trifecta's Weekend Challenge.  I had to use 33 additional words to complete a story that started with "It wasn't the first time."

  5. Thanks for linking up with Trifextra this weekend. Glad you made it in spite of all you have going on. This is a gripping little piece, of course, but I really loved the idea of the nurse telling you the baby is hungry. That detail, for me, really drove home the idea of a new mother. Hope to see you back again soon.
